Dr. Diaz completed a Residency in Internal Medicine and a Fellowship in Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, where he received special training in the management of patients with complex pulmonary problems such as Pulmonary Hypertension, Interstitial Lung Diseases and Lung Transplantation.
He served as the Medical Director of the Lung Transplant Programs at the University of Kentucky and the University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB). Dr. Diaz also trained in the management of ECMO (an artificial lung technology) and helped develop the ECMO program at the University of Alabama and at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola.
Dr. Diaz is currently associated with the University of Alabama at Birmingham as an Associate Professor of Medicine, he joined the Lung Group in Pensacola after many years of successful academic activities, he has more than 50 peer-reviewed publications in medical journals and has participated as a speaker in numerous national meetings in the field of Pulmonary Medicine. The Lung Group, under the leadership of Dr. Diaz, is proud to bring ECMO services for patients in the geographic area. Dr. Diaz specializes in the management of Interstitial Lung Diseases, Pulmonary Hypertension, Lung Transplantation and Advanced Lung Diseases. He is currently accepting new patients.
